A local hospital received two thumbs up for their great patient experience.

Torrance Memorial Medical Center earned a 4-star patient experience rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as a result of patient responses provided on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Survey.

They were one of only four hospitals in Los Angeles County that achieved this. No hospital received a 5-star in Los Angeles County.

This survey was measured by patients during their hospital experience, who were discharged during July 2015 and June 2016. The rating places Torrance Memorial in the top 5 percent of hospitals in the county. The star rating was created in order to help people get information and compare hospitals quickly. During this reporting period, 3,449 hospitals were eligible for star ratings.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services update the star ratings quarterly.
