The City of Torrance is looking to adopt an urgency ordinance on the use of marijuana in the City.
The City Attorney’s office and the City Manager will recommend the adoption of the moratorium to give staff time to study marijuana uses and the impact it may have on the public health, safety and welfare.
Currently, all marijuana and anything related to it is illegal in the City after the City Council adopted an ordinance in 2016. However, Proposition 64, known as the Control, Regulate and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act was approved by voters. It allows adults 21 years and older to use, possess and cultivate limited amounts of marijuana.
