Three brands of hummus containing pine nuts have been recalled for possible listeria contamination.

The House of Thaller, a Knoxville–based company has recalled Fresh Foods Market, Lantana and Martside brands of hummus. One ingredient in those products may be contaminated with listeria, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people and others who have a weakened immune system.

Symptoms can include headaches, nausea and abdominal pain.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the products affected were distributed nationwide between April 18 and June 3. To date no illnesses have been reported in relation to this recall.

Customers who have purchased any of the products described should contact the House of Thaller customer service center, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at (855) 215-5142.
