This week, guests from Kashiwa will arrive to the City of Torrance as part of the 45th anniversary celebration.
The delegates will visit the Torrance Farmers’ Market, tour Honda’s headquarters and visit other places in the South Bay. Every five years, Torrance and Kashiwa exchange anniversary visits. These exchange visits strengthen the ties of friendship, goodwill and cooperation between the two cities.
During their visit, one Cherry Tree is planted on the east lawn of the Cultural Arts Center. This year will mark the 9th tree representing the friendship.
The Torrance Sister City Association is known for its student exchange program which started in 1974. A group of students from Torrance go to Japan and a group from Kashiwa visit Torrance in August.
