Newborns at Torrance Memorial Medical Center received handmade knitted red caps from American Heart Association’s representatives. 

Little Hats Big Hearts Program helps raise awareness about congenital heart defects, the most common type of birth defect. Fifteen hospitals are participating including Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance.

All the hospitals will receive these handmade knitted red caps for babies born in February. The hats are a reminder to parents to cherish their health and commit to helping their children grown healthy and strong hearts.

The program started in Chicago in 2014. More than 100,00 hats will be handed out throughout the country.
