Health officials are warning people to think twice before taking a dip in the ocean this week.

Los Angeles County Public Health Department officials say that because of the recent rainfall bacteria is likely to enter ocean waters through discharging storm drains, creeks and rivers.

Discharging storm drains, creeks, and rivers only comprise a small portion of the beach. Residents will still be able to enjoy their outing at the beach. Swimming near this water can cause health illness, since bacteria, debris, trash and other public health hazards from streets move into ocean water.
