A company headquartered in Torrance is downsizing their business in the City.
Alpine Electronics of America, INC announced it has plans to move its headquarters to Michigan starting in April 2019. They plan to lay off 200 people, but will still keep staff here in Torrance. The President of the company says the move will strengthen operations closer to their automotive customers in the Americas and ensure growth in a very competitive market. Alpine Electronics is an automotive electronics manufacturer that provides consumers and leading auto makers with audio, video, navigation and driver assistance products.
It was founded in 1978 and is the only manufacturer specializing in mobile multimedia.
