Torrance Police are partnering with the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to get impaired drivers off the roads. Beginning this Friday December, 14 through January police will conduct what they call saturation patrols to look for drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  This includes being under the influence of marijuana, prescriptions drugs and over the counter medications that could impair one’s ability to drive safely, especially when combined with alcohol or a combination of drugs.  There will also be DUI check points at undisclosed locations within Torrance City limits during the month.

In 2017, during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday periods 25 people were killed and 643 injured on California roads.
