South Bay local stars put on their dancing shoes to compete and fundraise for their favorite charities.

The Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation hosted their seventh Annual Dancing with the South Bay Stars based on the popular TV dance show.  Nine participants were partnered with professional dancers and for weeks the pairs worked on a routine before taking their performances to the stage.

From salsa to more theatrical pieces, competitors were scored on their dance numbers and fan votes. Each group put their best foot forward to fundraise for their charities of choice. Our very own Jesse Pierre,  producer of Faces of Torrance took the stage with a samba routine dancing for “Walk with Sally” an organization that helps provide support services to children impacted by cancer. She wowed the crowds and judges getting the top dancing score with 30 points.

The winner of this year’s competition was Celeste Mattucci with a tango routine. She danced for the organization “New Challenge Ministries”, one of the largest food banks in Los Angeles County-based here in Torrance.

Dancing with the South Bay Stars has become a staple event in the community, raising thousands of dollars for several organizations every year. The winner of the competition received $1,000 dollars for her charity, 2nd place received $750 dollars and all of the other competitors received $500. The rest of the funds went towards production cost and to support the Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation.
