You may have seen smoke coming from a big landmark in the City.
Torrance Fire Department spent the afternoon battling a simulated fire at the former Toyota Campus.
135 Torrance firefighters, two engines, a Battalion Chief and many other members descended onto the scene to sharpen their skills. They set up a simulation of a multi-company training where they used their skills to fight a structure fire at a commercial space. They used radio communication, thermal imaging cameras, and simulated smoke and command/control elements. Torrance Fire also utilized new technology to organize operations and track resources through a program called Tablet Command.
